I recently bought the doll master i saw like half an hour and i liked it a lot, but the film towards the end got a bit thin, theres loads of scenes of all these dolls coming to life on the trailer but dont appear in the film, but its still a blood soacked film i recomend but if like me you want to see hordes of evil dolls attacking our heroes then please watch with different intentions as a ghost story that is quite sad.

please can someone tell me when godzilla final wars comes out.

I answered that in this POST (http://www.horrorexpress.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1353&st=30)
:erm:
The only update has been, that Sony has bought the US dvd rights and an educated guess is that they will release it sometime Fall or Winter '05. When I get more info it'll be posted here ASAP.

Sheers Mr. Jay. As for Dollmaster, hmm, I've been meaning to catch this one, ever since Mr. Devilman posted a rather unsetling pic from it in "Name that asian movie" thread.

I can't quite get it out of my mind.

Doll Master Review (http://www.ispitonyourmovie.com/forum/kb.php?mode=article&k=77)

... Its pretty much a by the numbers teen slasher flick, very much a western style movie.

Thanks Mr. Feral Kat. The pic in wich a girl looks all folded like dirty laundry is the one that got to me. Too bad about the movie, or at least this reviewer in particular didn't find anything particulary great about it. Still, gotta love that image...

... It’s not a bad movie or anything; it's just popcorn horror worth a rental or even a purchase if it's cheap. Basically its some teens go to a big house and get killed off, as seen in many western slashes its fun, but not great.

I did like that kill in the toilet though, it does not show much of that attack, just the aftermath as shown in that picture.

FERAL CAT, I personally liked DOLLMASTER and overall I liked your review too (even though I don't agree with it) and the "Chan Woo-Park revenge movie" comment was excellent.

But to simply generalize DOLLMASTER as a "cheap by-the-numbers teen slasher flick" demeans the whole movie because I think it's vastly superior to that realm of films. I thought it was far better than say, multi-film series like SCREAM, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, and URBAN LEGEND.

It's more inspired than those teen slasher flicks. It's more creepy than those teen slasher flicks. It's more creative than those teen slasher flicks. And ultimately, it's more watchable and enjoyable than all of those teen slasher flicks put together.

Back to the "by-the-numbers" comment again. If you say it's "by-the-numbers" because as a viewer, you know every character is probably gonna die by the end of the movie, then there's no problem there. But the story's premise is anything but typical slasher fare. And the subject matter is an often underused treasure chest chock full of potential.

Sure, it can seen as having a Western horror movie flair, but that's not always a bad thing in Eastern films. It can help the non-Asian viewer "get into" the film much quicker and allows them to sit back and enjoy the movie easier. Nothing wrong there, in my opinion. Besides, it's not like DOLLMASTER is aimed at breaking new cinematic ground or anything of that sort.

Maybe it's best to call DOLLMASTER a niche film? If it works for you (meaning it hits all of the right buttons for the viewer), that's wonderful, you're in for a treat. If it doesn't, oh well. But I still think there's much more to the movie than a so-called teen slasher flick.

... I hope my review does not sound as though I did not like it, I did, just did not think it was outstanding in anyway. I was refering to proper teen slashers from the 80's and did not have the likes of scream, IKWYDL or Urban legends in mind at all.

Oh well, to each their own I guess.

I really thought DOLLMASTER was extremely entertaining. Then again, I'm easy to please when it comes to Asian spook movies.

Me too!

This was a good flick, although not the best asian cinema has to offer. An asian slasher, if you like. I enjoyed it. Very easy on the eye...
