Sorry, Pittsburgh. Or I should say, cest la vie. Following a trend of several Hollywood films, the I-can't-believe-they're-actually-doing-it DAWN OF THE DEAD remake will be filmed in Toronto, British Columbia. Production costs are generally cheaper up north, as is labor and other studio expenses. The U.S. economy and rising production costs have sent a rising number of film and television productions to Canada in the last decade.

This will no doubt urk folks who see Pittsburgh as an unbroken DEAD tradition. However, it should make folks in Canada very happy that they finally have a big studio zombie epic. Locations currently being scouted include the Eaton Centre and the Warden Woods Mall. Filming is slated to begin in June.

Toronto is located in Canadian province called Ontario, NOT British Columbia. Eaton Centre is one of the best shopping malls in Canada and located in downtown Toronto. I doubt they would get this location. Although it was used before in that Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie about the clones.

Yes, that was a very embarassing mistake, which is why I corrected the story last week. In fact, I thought I had deleted this version of the story altogether to avoid confusion. The corrected story is "O Canada! Sleep Well Tonight." No offense to our Canadian readers. I may be a moderately okay critic, but I'm horrible at geography. :D

I've heard the Eaton Centre might be a bit too busy for the film but I guess they're still exploring the possibility, last I heard.
