View Full Version : Some New Asian Movie Thing
I hear there is a movie called [Some long Japanese word] the goblin. I saw it in a fangora ad and thought it looked pretty kewl. I mean the monsters are crab like things with humna heads! Well anyway, on the ad, it said there was going to be a sneak peek or somethun at a theater in New York. I really wanna know when it comes out! I wanna buy it for my sister! Give her a little 'I Hope The Pain Isn't Too Bad' gift!

You mean HIRUKO THE GOBLIN?
Here's a description from IMDB.
A school was built on one of the Gates of Hell, behind which hordes of demons await the moment they will be free to roam the Earth. Hiruko is a goblin sent to Earth on a reconnaissance mission. He beheads students in order to assemble their heads on the demons' spider-like bodies. Hieda, an archaeology professor, and Masao, a haunted student, investigate the gory deaths and eventually battle Hiruko.
I've heard good and bad reviews about it, haven't seen it yet though.
The movie is directed by Shinya Tsukamoto, who also directed TETSUO THE IRON MAN.

I need to give Hiroku The Goblin another chance. Last time I tried to watch it, I ended up giving up and going to sleep halfway through.

I recently watched HIRUKO THE GOBLIN again on DVD and I thought it was great. Much better than the first time I watched it on a washed-out VHS print. I ended up enjoying the film more the second time around because the print on the DVD was so good.
