I got a chance to check out the new one-shot TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE comic the other day, and I gotta say, for a comic, it was pretty darn snazzy. It's put out by Avatar Press and it's part of New Line Cinema's "HOUSE OF HORROR" series. Other titles include FRIDAY THE 13TH and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET.
Anyway, this particular comic is based on the characters from the 2003 TCM remake. It's got the same house. It's got Sheriff Hoyt (played by R. Lee Ermey in the movie), Monty (the old legless fella in the wheelchair), Luda May (the fat lady from the store), the country freaks from the trailers (mainly Henrietta, the scariest one of the bunch in my opinion), and of course, Leatherface (he's called Thomas again, just like the film). They're all pretty cool too because writer Brian Pulido gave 'em dialogue that you'd expect to hear from the film, and artist Jacen Burrows drew 'em just like that too.
Basically, this one-shot deals with a car load of young cons who run afoul of "The Family". Needless to say, they don't fare too well. Some are beheaded. Some are gutted. Some have their hands nailed to a table and their fingers cut off. One's forced to sniff Ajax as if it were lines of cocaine. They run, they scream, but in the end, Leatherface gets his jollies. And then they're all chopped up for supper. Yup. As the movie only hinted at them being cannibals, the comic doesn't make you guess. You know for sure.
So, if you're in the mood for some good old fashioned murder and mayhem, TCM-style, I suggest you pick it up.
