I almost picked this up in HMV today but again didnt have enough for it. Have you seen it? if so what did you think?

Apparentley its more violent than the miike version, but i suppose they had more freedom with the violence in the anime.

I just recently watched the anime and it was a letdown (to me anyway).

The animation was quite shitty (don't let the images above fool ya) which is really surprising since the live action movie reportedly did so well. As for the violence, there's nothing in this that you haven't seen done better in other anime shows.

It was pretty interesting to see the so-called history of Ichi becoming the man he was in the TAKASHI MIIKE film but all in all, it was rather boring as a whole.

Maybe the live action prequel will be better. It hits R1 DVD this week.
