I read that Paul Schrader's version was more psychological, and had a more old school feel to it which delt with more religious themes instead of the cheap mtv scares that the suits think is so popular right now. I think that is the reason why they fired Schrader and hired Harlin. but good news for people who want to check out Schrader's version because it hits theaters May 20.
