who's seen it and what did you think?
I thought it was rather entertaining and was surprised at how well Ryan Reynolds did considering he's usually in comedies. I thought it kicked ass!

I liked it, it was too different from the original except the part about the native americans and that guy ketchem. i liked some of the effects in it, when the girl pushed the womans finger inside the gunshot wound in hr head that was crazy. and at the end when the girl got pulled through the floor.

It was great but still not better than the original.

Funny, I just rented this tonight. We'll see how it goes.. but I didn't really cared much about the original, so here's hoping this one's better.

Meh. It was entertaining for a while, with a huge letdown at the end. Not a good movie by any standards, IMHO. I was perfectly willing to let that go (direction, camera, cheap-used-a-thousand-times-only-better-tricks, bad acting -the priest, Jesus H Christ but he was bad- , and other stuff) if only the movie could have stayed interesting and, I dunno, exciting to the end.
But it didn't.
It somehow seemed to me it was finished in a rush or something. And of course, it is a pretty ridiculous ending, I mean, imagine this:
Billy: "Hey George, I really didn't like you before, but now that you enthusiastically tried to kill me with an axe, chased me and my family in the roof with a shotgun and CHOPPED MY FUCKING DOG TO PIECES I guess I can call you daddy and be nice" sheesh.
It's bad enough this whole "based on a true story" bullshit has gone on as long as it has (and that goes for the "Texas chainsaw massacre" movies as well), but it's really cheap when they can't even make a GOOD movie out of a hoax that, admittedly, it's at least an INTERESTING hoax.

I'd have to agree with Juan.
Although it was mildly entertaining, it was still pretty lame. The only part where my eyes were glued to the TV, is when the babysitter arrived.

So i take it nots worth the trouble of renting?

Oh, yes... actually.. the wife looks pretty hot too, considering, you know, that she has 3 KIDS!
As for Mr. Versus's question... is it worth renting? I'd say yes. While nowhere near a good horror movie (in MY opinion of course) it has it's moments, and, you know, it's not "Mosquito Man" or "Manthing"....
For an interesting and mostly objective read about the Amytiville thing, go here..

If anyone knows of a site with much more information, documents and objective views of the Amytiville hoax, I'll appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.. there are WAY too many sites for me to read them all...
