I'm looking for the name of a movie that came out in the late 70s--1980 at the very latest. I saw this flick at a dollar movie theater in 1979 or 1980 and it creeped the bejeezus out of me.
In the movie, the villan is a welder (I think) who lives with his mother. After his mother dies, he goes nuts and keeps her corpse in the house (a la Psycho). He then goes on a killing spree whereby he lures women to his house and tortures them to death by burning their bodies with an acetylene torch. All of this done in a specially made steel walled room he built. He then takes their charred bodies, dresses them up, and places them in a room sitting in chairs, etc, where his mother's corpse is--as if they are all there to meet her or something.
The other night, my daughters came home with "The Ring" claiming it to be the scariest movie of all time. The movie was OK, but didn't give me nearly the creeps that the movie I'm looking for did. I still say the movie I described was the scariest movie of all time; but then, I was about the same age as my daughters are now when I saw it.
