[I 150w mayhem_01 I]Stephen Biro has announced that he will be devoting his full time and energy to his ever-growing DVD venture, , effectively ending his association with .

The Video Mayhem store has been a fixtue in Tampa's Ybor City for many years and catered to horror and cult audiences alike. They also had a great web order business. Personally dealing with Biro, I can say the store was a wonderful assets to horror fans. It will be missed.

BUT WAIT! Don't get too sad because this means a more ambitous output for Unearthed Films, who released several of the controversial GUINEA PIG films on DVD last year.

Biro has announced a number of fantastic acquitions that will be added to the Unearthed roster. JUNK and EVIL DEAD TRAP 2 are still set for release this year. And you can add a number of other shockers to the list.

Nacho Cerde's three underground films, AFTERMATH, GENESIS and AWAKENING will all be available on DVD for the first time. Extras will include director's commentary, a making of documentry, trailers, interviews and stills. Biro is closely working with the director on this one.

Shozin Fukui's films PINOCCHIO 964 and RUBBER'S LOVER will also be available. These are some truly graphic films that have been embraced by fans of shocking Asian cinema.

Also an old favorite of mine, ROCK & RULE. Biro has said of this release, "The DVD release will be anamorphic, 5.1 surround and the extras will include Dir. commentary, the first half hour animated cartoon ROCK & RULE was based on, stills, production photos, early character design, Rare alternate version of ROCK & RULE with different scenes and alternate voice actors. This alternate version will only be available on the limited double disc. This film has a lot of

unreleased music never before released by the bands on any album. Artists include, Blondie, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Cheap Trick, Alice Cooper and Earth Wind and Fire." ROCK & RULE involves a meglomaniacal rock star who wants to use a young engenue's voice to summon a demon - trust me, it's a lot of fun.

All of this sounds fantastic. Onwards and upwards, Steve! I'll be picking these up.

Admit your fandom of Cheap Trick in our !

As a brief follow-up to this story, I visited Stephen Biro and his Video Mayhem shop on Thursday. Got a great haul of DVDs and had a great fanboy-ish conversation with Mr. Biro. Thanks, Steve. B)
